Breastfeeding Class

Today, Tron and I went to a breastfeeding class for WIC. It was interesting you might say. They used this weird boob pillow to show certain things. I'll just say it made me laugh. The instructor was very nice, but pretty weird. I don't know maybe I just thought it was all kinda weird because I think breastfeeding is kinda weird itself, who knows. But I got pretty sad because there was a girl in the class who asked about what you do when your baby can't drink your milk. The instructor asked if she meant if they were allergic or something and the girl finally just said "Well, my baby isn't going to live, it's going to die right after being born and I wanted to know what to do to dry up the milk without pain." I just sat there and couldn't believe how she was saying this without crying her eyes out. (p.s. weird instructor kept a smile on her face as she said sorry to hear that. kinda weird) I want to know why they had her go to that class in the first place, that would be so hard. Hearing about other women preparing to take care of and feed their little newborns, that poor girl. And it was their first, that would be so hard. Anyhow, breastfeeding apparently there's no drawbacks. Except your nipples drying, cracking, and FALLING OFF! (p.s. that just happened to someone I know. So, you can't say it doesn't happen)

I watched the same video at the WIC clinic and that is the video I blame for scarring me for life. It made me despise the idea of breastfeeding! I ended up breastfeeding, but not without much hesitation and being completely grossed out! I didn't decide until Kenzi was born. It's not my favorite thing, so I am probably not the one to talk to! I think the reason that girl had to go to the class is because she is currently receiving WIC and in order to continue to qualify you have to attend their classes. I am also pretty sure that had she told them her situation before hand, they would have made other arrangements. They are not that cold hearted!

I remember that vid. Kali and I are like minded when it comes to breastfeeding. There are drawbacks, but none that aren't worth it if you want to do it. I remember being at Heidi's shower and you saying that being pregnant weirds you out. Breastfeeding is way less weird, so you're golden. P.S. it does not come naturally to every baby so be aware.

So I just found your preggo blog. You funny girl...

K, I wasn't able to breastfeed b/c of the dumb hospital and b/c Claire wouldn't do it. I know everyone says it's the easiest and the most natural thing...it's not. For some women and their babies, sure... But for me and all of my friends, it took at LEAST 6 weeks before it became a routine. And with Claire...it never did. I definitely think its the best for the baby and I would do it if I could but yeah...depends on the kid. :)
